re: The Wespot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The sick one isn't the daughter, we have a 2 year old that has been sick since he was 2 months old. My oldest (the one who is getting the fish(ies)) does a lot to help out with her younger sister while we deal with the boy.

But thanks for the concern, and she's going to love them :) she hand picked them herself(well as much as you can do via internet shopping) - all our local LFS's are just disease ridden.. 3 thory malc.x 3 gt x 3 carpintis. with 10 tiger barbs. It was pretty funny because 1 gt/1fm/1carpintis was my first 'real' tank so when I told her that she found it a bit amusing. All these guys will be 1.5-2" juvies so she'll be able to grow them out and watch them grow up and color up.

I love getting my kids involved makes the hobby so much more enjoyable. Just made a vid of my 2yr old trying to say vieja argentea lol
Will say a prayer for your lil boy

Funny I just caught this... I just emailed Jessica today about getting some pics of their carpintis stock. I got a reply about an hour later. Looking forward to your pics!

Well the fish are in.. temp drop was pretty huge digital reading had the bags at 67* and the tanks range from 79-82* so looking at a 2-3 hr acclimation period I suppose.

The super reds are far bigger than the 1.5" i was quoted for. May end up having to roll the dice and putting them directly in to the main tank. The 20g isn't size appropriate for them to QT in like I'd planned. Chocolates ended up being a lot bigger as well. On the one hand it's nice getting bigger than what I paid for, but on the other hand, now I'm scrambling heh.

Kiddos fish look good. 1 of the 3 GT is definitely bigger and showing some good color even through the bag. Couldn't really get a good look at the carpintis(they looked dark though, likely due to stress) or the thor. malc. Will update with some in tank shots in a few hours.

Well finally got them all unpacked acclimated and while the kiddos tank is doing great, majority of the chocolates are looking quite ill, as well as the red sevs. Pretty sure 2 chocolates are essentially dead, they're laying on their sides half bowed with barely any breathing but if I move to check them, they swim spastically before settling down. One of the red sevs is hunkered underneath woodwork.

The gt/carpintis/thor malc/green barbs are all looking fantastic though. In fact one of the GT looks like it's going to be a helluva stunner one day. I'll get a video in a short bit here. Won't be grabbing any pics of the red sevs or chocolates though while I rough this patch out and make sure theyre going to pull through.

Here's a video of daughters new fish. Ignore the smudges on the glass, the 2 yo and her younger sister are constantly pawing at the glass.
And pardon the flighty camera control. Was nearly impossible to get them sitting still for any given time. I'll start up a new update thread on her tank in a few days when they've settled down some.

the blues and greens are pretty washed out in these shots but they are far more colorful than they let on in this clip.
