I finally moved on my Lents and otapa swordtails yesterday.
I know they are in very good hands as I met up with Lee Nuttall and he had them off me. We had a good chat about fish and aquascaping and also about his new book.
This leaves me with an empty 4foot tank.
Not sure exactly what I'm putting in there yet but have narrowed it down to a biotope for fire bellied toads or a species of dart frog.
This is something I have never tried before so I'm gathering as much info as possible on the subject.
I'm planning on building a custom 3d background with live plants and incorporating a waterfall and stream.
I have lots of materials and equipment to buy and I'm very excited about getting started.
I will start a thread on the progress of this project and show exactly how I go about it. It could be great or it could be a disaster but it's certainly nice to be trying something new.

Should be great, I would go for dart frogs as I think they’re more interesting and they’re also a lot more colourful
Your probably right, they are definitely more colourful. There's something about the toads I really like though. Could go either way but probably will go with the darts.

I had a paludarium 55g with fiebellies way back when. I made an island in the middle and put my filters on the sides of the island. It was a very cool tank. Firebellies are the only other amph I would consider a tank for outside of darts

P PYRU , did you find them as interesting to keep as the darts?
Are they any easier?
The tank you describe sounds similar to what I have in mind.

Sounds like an awesome Idea Stanz. Once in a while you definitely need to branch out and do something different, to keep the hobby fresh.
I look forward to seeing your paludarium. I was at the U.S. National Botanical gardens yesterday and really fell in love with bromeliads. Inspired me to get some plants for my apartment. Any idea what plants you want for this setup?

If I choose the dart frogs I would definitely want some bromeliads and orchids.
For the toads I had lots of mosses and ferns in mind.
I've seen some frog tanks with mushrooms/toadstools growing in them. I find that idea very appealing, not sure how easy to do it is yet though.
