betta fish are awesome. the only downside to them is that they have such short life spans. they're really personable fish so i usually get attached to them lol. but ime they typically live 2-3 years.

I've owned more bettas than any other fish and they're the only fish I've actively bred. They are have fascinating little personalities and I've yet to own two with the same personality. There's something cool about watching one tend to his bubble nest.
