I understand how you feel. I also felt sad when I lost 2 of my favourite dels and other good bichirs. It takes a while to get over it, but if you can get out of it, you will understand its part and parcel of life.

Ah man, no way! Wow... I'm sad too, I have a lot of nice memories with that fish, multiple MFKers loved that fish very much. I was happy to see her with other MFKers that loved her as much as I did.
When she was in my tank, she was my favorite too, she was active, she LOVED eating, and had a beautiful bronze/olive color.
At least we still have all the photos of her since she was only 6".

What I can say from experience is to not give up, and don't let this get you down. Like Julian said, you will have more 20" beasty congicus soon.
