real vs fake

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
all my aqua ornaments/ plants are fake. i have 2 real plant out of about 20. i am slowly but surly adding real stuff. i.e driftwood, bogwood, some real rock and whatever else i can think of. at first i didnt want to post pics becouse i didnt want to be critizised about it . i posted and nobody did. got a few compliments though. im still a very green to the hobby. basically i think fake is a-o-k. :)

Howdy and Welcome to MFK,

I move your thread to the aquascaping forum

My personal preference is a natural-looking set-up. I like my tank planted with river rocks and driftwood. However, some fish do not tolerate plants. I still think driftwood and rocks look great. I don't think I'd use holiday decorations, though ;) But again, tjhat's personal preference. Why don't you post some pics of your aqascaping?

BTW: I closed your thread "Holiday Decorations for Fish Tanks" since this here already has a few answers. In the future, please do not post the same stuff in two forums but rather pick the most appriopriate one. No problem now, just for future reference ;) Thanks.

I prefer the appearance of an all-natural set up. I keep live plants and honeycomb limestone with my Malawians and live plants and drift wood with my W. Africans.

I think tank "decorations" are corny personally, unless it is something natural, natural tanks look beautiful and professional. Thats why no commercial aquarium uses plastic or weird skulls or divers or wizards, lol. Fake coral, but still looks natural, and thats to keep the environment healthy.

i my self like real better , but many people love to dress their tanks up like that

I prefer the natural look myself. But if you do it right you can make fake plants work as well.

personally dislike ornaments, and again prefer a natural set ups. if i could i would also keep real plants- but my plecos like them too much so, fake it is. fortunately there are a few good looking ones on the market
