I find this hard to believe this is like wels catfish size. RTC just don;t get as big as them.

Well if you don't believe offical measured sizes ....your beyond help. I'll bet you don't even know that the South American Red Tail is only the 5th largest species of Catfish in the Amazon either ?

hahahaha, so let me get this straight, the original poster says the world record is only 4'4" and asks for proof of larger ones, when people start bringing up the official world record, they get accused of derailing his thread. This is too comical.

i disagree that a fish making it to 20 years means it's healthy. i can keep you looking physically healthy in a jail cell for your entire life but it doesn't mean your healthy and have lived a fine life

just a quick google search. not sure on the sizes, but these are no 24" catfish

If someone keeps a fish 20 years in a tank too small (300-400 gallons), then the fish must be healthy. According to you guys this is too small. I think you derailed the thread. You guys started pulling sizes out of your azz. The guy only asked what is typical, not world records. I could pull numbers out of my azz too about your fish and say they need double the tank they are in. Just cause the world record of a fish is 5 feet does not mean EVERY fish reaches that size. You guys are funny.
Lol, is that kinda like the classic arguement ".....but I've been keeping goldfish in unfiltered 1 gallon tanks for 25 years and they always live for over 10 years, so they have to be healthy"

And they're not pulling sizes out of their "azzez", I looked up the 139 lb.'er and actually found it on google the other day.

wow.. that closed the thread.. I kind of feel sorry for the guy on the pic second from the top..

Late Edit: it was 134lbs, not 139lbs.

I found the pic it showed with it, but I can't find the actual webpage (found the pic on a different page):
