Really cheap easy 24/7 drip system

I'm not sure where I would be able to pick up a chlorine test kit. I'll check Lowes/Home Depot next time I stop by there. Also so far the drip system is running strong. I caved in and went with drip emitters. It was $5 for a pack of ten .5 gallon per hour emitters. Its been on there for about 24 hours and hasn't shown any signs of changing speeds. The reason I went with a drip emitter is because I noticed whenever anyone took a shower in the bathroom behind the wall the flow from the line went from a steady drip to a small stream and then it would go back to the steady dripping after an hour or so. I don't know enough about plumbing to know why that would happen but it looks like I found the fix for it.

Thanks and hmmm I may have to keep on eye on the saddle valve. I know I'm going to replace the main lines out there due to rust and the fact that the faucet doesn't work at all. I'll look into something more appropriate for the situation that I'm trying to use it for when I get to replacing them. Thanks for the tip.

careful with those emitter from lowes/home depot. they suck, thats why i recommended the ones i did. these have a removable top for cleaning.

Yeah I hear ya. So far I've had to replace the emitter 5 times because the flow stopped running through them. Good thing it was a ten pack. I'll look into the ones you recommended.
 
Just did a small water change. It was more to clean up some of the debris on the bottom of the tank from some uneaten food. Sometimes the piranha like to shred apart the pellets and they just leave them on the bottom. I wish I had done water tests before I changed the water but I only changed about 10 percent so I don't think it messed with the results. Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 and Nitrate looks like its hovering around 10 PPM. It looks like changing roughly 10% of the water a day is keeping up with everything nicely. Not to mention I only feed them 2-3 three times a week so I'm sure that helps as well.

I couldn't be more pleased with the setup so far. If anyone is even slightly thinking about setting up one of these systems I would highly recommend it. It makes everything so much easier not to mention if you do still decide to do water changes for whatever reason its impossible to flood your tank since the overflow keeps the water level exactly where you want it. I think I might start testing monthly and I might start cleaning the XP4 once every four to six months if everything keeps up this current pace.
 
Hey quick question wheres the best place to get that overflow you used? I am doing a similar system but don't have a sump like you so I need an overflow. Thanks man.
 
I got it from a LFS. Ill admit it was probably overpriced so maybe you could find it somewhere else for a better deal. Im not sure where online to recommend buying the overflow. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
