In the fish section LOL
Just dropped by my friends house who has some juvi cichla like me,
We bot got 3 2" babies about 3 months ago we were having a contest to see who can get theres to 6"+ first.

So i see this fish and it a whopping 7"! mine only are 4" from the 2" that i got them at

He told me he was pumping his with pellets meanwhile i was pumping mine with freeze dried plankton and krill

I dont know why mine have not started growing like they should yet. tank water chemestry and temp are perfect

Mine are on krill and eating like theres no tommorow but they will not take pellets idk why and i am mad

i wanna see mine grow into monsters but there not! i cant take it and i wanna get them into my 220 regular tank!

any ideas please

Im feeding mine nothing but gutloaded fatheads and they are growing ~2 inches a month.. I keep throwing them in until they quit taking them :D

I also do this of the morning and night...

I have heard other people complain of slow growth with FD Krill...

oh my god..how many times have we told you to feed them FISH?!

Pellets have more nutritional value than krill, since they are made up of many different ingredients.

fish should be the staple until they reach at least 4 inches, then get them on pellets, and add kril as a treat.

feeding krill alone wont grow a 2 inch pbass into a monster in a short time

EXACTLY!

i know live fish live fish but what if i cant get them minnows 2 times a day what do i fill there stomachs with

Like what some of the others have suggested - frequency is suppose to be the key. So instead of giving them ONE big ol' meal. You can feed them small meals, 2-3 times a day. Also - if you keep the temp around 83-84, and the water clean, I'm sure the p-bass will grow into a monster shortly.

Freeze dried krill seems limited. Try feeding them other stuff. Mine are growing pretty fast on hikari pellets, market shrimp, and chunks of fish.

Mysis is 1000 times better than Krill or Plankton.. If you are not capable of taking care of the live needs of the Fish :)

it's 4.5 or 12% in Krill vs 69% in Mysis!! :)

Why can you not get Minnows.. If not minnows go with Feeders, Rosy reds, Goldfish, Fry form locals...

People tend to be affraid of Goldfish for the THiaminizine I think as it can cause a Thiamin Defficiancy.. BUt if all you have access to is Goldfish.. Then USE GOLDFISH and the other stuff.... But while young THEY NEED LIVE FISH :) Try Nightcrawlers as well :)

Once again THEY NEED LIVE FISH:) Personal opinion of course :)

Just to try to help you out with your live needs. Do you have any fish hatcheries around your area? My local fish hatchery sells fatheads by the pound. I just finished getting them for ~ 32 cents a dozen.

If you are close to any lakes or rivers or anything, most bait shops sell minnows for 75 cents to a dollar a dozen around here...
