if i was you. i would tear down the whole tank. take out all the plants give it a good dip or clean it. get new sand. and rinse the filter. that would most likely get rid of all the bug.
the bugs are most likely hitch hikers from the plants u bought. they may already be eggs on the plants and u cant see it when u bought it.
as far as cleaning the glass. i wouldnt recommend using those magnet. one tiny sand in that magnet and u'll get scratches. i personally use a clean cloth. and stick my hand in there and wipe it off. have not have a single scratch using that method on my 135g for years.
