Hi guys,

I recently bought a royal clown knifefish that is just under two inches. I got him yesterday and i put him in a barebottom 20 gallon by himself with a small piece of wood, java fern, and a clear plastic hiding tube. I've dropped in frozen bloodworms last night and was wondering what I should be feeding them this size. The lady at the lfs said to feed flakes but obviously that's not true. Yes, I know of his future size, I have a 210 gallon. Any other info helps too! Thanks.

live worms or beef heart, thats what i would go with, im no expert but it worked with mine (i had them like 3 years ago) . Good luck mate

Well, I'm pretty sure it's a royal but I could be wrong. I presumed it was because of the stripes that were all the way to the head near the eye. It has quite a lot of stripes. But, I could be wrong. Would bloodworms work if I don't have blackworms? I have beef heart but I heard that it may be harmful because the knife can't digest it. Is it possible that I could give it New Life Spectrum sinking pellets? 1mm in size and it has whole herring and shrimp in it?

It would be a good snack. Just don't do it all the time cuz they tend to get addicted to eating live and it becomes a pain to get them off of it.

Bloodworms would be fine. I'm new sure about beef heart, I've never used it myself but I've read that you shouldn't feed mammalian meat to fish and the pellets would work too. That's if you can get it to eat it.

It's been the second night so far and still he refuses to eat. Hikari Gold pellets, bloodworms, guppy fry, sinking New Life Spectrum pellets, and even if I put it right in front of him. Still no success. Should I just wait a couple more days until he will eat?
