Really upset.

I understand where you are coming from, I was transferred to 3rd shift super position, I expected people to pick up my old duties (I was a leader of a house), as I was going into a graveyard position meaning no direct care duties with the clients, I only work with the clients 1 1/2 hours out of the 10 hours a nite. I send them off to work in the mornings. My job now is to check all of the medicaid and fix any errors. And to be in charge of staff during that shift to make sure things run smoothly.

Now since I left that leader post- no one else was hired for that post and they assigned other leaders to pick it up. The leaders have been doing half-assed work that any one with a 8th grade education could do. I've been dealing with problems and solving problems that was not supposed to be part of my job, the 2nd shift was supposed to take care of the problems before the overnight takes over. Many issues wait until it comes to my shift, I'm always finding the big issues. Especially with medications which is very important. I'm so sick and tired of slackers and mental case employees in my workplace. And to make it worse I'm seeing other co-workers paperwork. I have never been so appalled. I have been working my ass off doing detailed paperwork which the state wants us to do in the first place and the quality work the co-workers have been turning in. I do feel like I'm being used 24/7.

I would say self promotion is the only way to move up. Lots of people work hard everyday and never get recognized because nothing goes wrong. Thats why the dude who screws up all the time gets all the focus, because it requires immediate attention. Sometimes youve got to take the initiative and make the boss focus on yourself. You can't expect them to give you the time of day by themselves. In a perfect world everyone who deserves it would get a promotion on merit, unfortunately that rarely happens.

I agree with Pharoah once again. Dont act in anyway that reflects negatively upon you. Explain any shortfalls to your boss while demonstrating you are doing what you can. Are they paying you at your old rate or still at the promoted rate? They will probably tell you that handling these employee shortfalls is all part of managerial duties, just stress to them that they are setting you up for failure if they dont plan on rectifying the situation.
Also, go apply for some other jobs and use your boss as a reference. That will send a strong but non-confrontational hint that you are no longer happy there and maybe they should do something to keep you.

Thank you for all your advice.

I have decided to just do the best I can. It does make me upset that I am doing two jobs for the price of one; but I will give them until march and see. However I know that jobs are hard to come by and I do have a child on the way (April 15th); and I know God gave me this job so it would be him I dishonor by quieting.

I also figured I owe it to them to give them the chance to keep their word. I found out there might be more to the story then I was told. I have done more then enough in the past to get fired, and they gave me a chance so I should give them the same chance.

Good way to think about it! You can do all things through he who stregthens you! :D

Possible plus side: They see that you accepted this challenge head on and doors open for you in the future.

Great attitude pal. Best of luck. Enjoy your kids man, that will make going to work easy no matter what. I suffer at work daily for my three kids and it's still the greatest gift ever. Nothing easier than waking up in the morning and putting your time in for your babies. Makes everything come into perspective. Things have a way of working out in the end and in the meantime you have all of my best wishes.
