I took out the big branchy driftwood and rearranged the rocks a little. This gives the gars the most use of the tank space. It looks a little empty, as I'm used to having more objects (plants, driftwood, rocks) in my tanks, but I'm sure the gar will appreciate. I think the pike is pissed off though, cuz I stole her hiding spot. She was slamming the albino channel cat every time it swam to her side of the tank. :chillpill: :)

Sorry for the crappy pics...

Thanks, it was still settling down from the water change and rearranging. I did about 60% water change, plus moving the rocks and driftwood around really put some debris in the water.

looks good Conner, and i agree that the gars likely prefer the new setup much better. this is what i do in my tanks too...minimal obstruction for the gars...looks a little less complex, but i prefer that the fish do well as opposed to pure aesthetics. nice job--

Thanks! I'll get some new pictures when I get home tonight. The water will be nice and clear then. I also added another light in the back of the tank, a 4 foot, double tube shoplight. It's quiet a bit brighter than it was, so I'll see how I (and the fish) like it. If it's too much, I'll probably go back to just the smaller CFL's in the DIY hood on top.

nicely done, have to agree with solomon, looks like the gars are going to like this set up better
