Reasons to get a Snow Corn Snake

Oh and where to buy...seek out local breeders or look for a show/expo near you. I agree with avoiding the chain pet stores and any other sketchy private stores.

personally i only use newspaper because its free and also lessens the chance of being ingested.

Iam basing there messness from a male corn that is 3feet and 5.6 lbs. That snake is the messiest animal Ive cleaned up after. That snake is a teachers at the community college I go too. But Iam sure all snakes aren't as messy as that one.

Corn snakes are about as easy as you can get.
www.Ridgetopreptiles.com has babies of various color morphs hatching out right now, you can contact him about some you like and he can give you more information than you ever wanted about them.

I got my snow corn from Kathy Love - she is a great breeder and takes very very good care of her babies (cornutopia.com). I also use newspaper for my corn (free and when I kept her on aspen I had a bad experience with it). I clean out her cage about once a week after she uses the bathroom. I don't have a light for her, or any of my snakes for that matter, the lighting in the room is more than enough for them. I too keep her in a plastic sterilite/rubbermaid type bin. She costs me $3 a week to feed and I don't buy in bulk. Hope I helped.

Thanks Leandra. Yah I would still rather buy in bulk. Thats awesome that ambient light works for them.

I am searching for a local breeder in far northern california, if I cant find any Ill try the breeders mentioned here.

Also, what does everyone use for heating pads? the reptile specific ones or the human heating pads? and I also must get a thermostat correct, in order to control the heating pad properly.

Sorry must have missed where you said you wanted to buy in bulk. Maybe post an ad on Craigslist? I know when I was looking for a baby ball python I posted for one and got a ton of responses from different hobbyists in the area that were breeding. I use flexiwatt heat tape but that's only because I have 6 snakes and it's easier for me that way. I'm sure human or reptile would work and yet you do want a thermostat so it won't get too hot or cold for the snake. Also, if you get more than one (sure you know this but still) just be careful if you house them together, I have known baby corn snakes to eat one another before.

I have known babie corns to out compete the other for food when sharing the same tank.

I figure If I get a corn snake I might also get a California king snake ( black and white variation) and house them in separate storage tubs.

Also before I get any snake i have to have the habitat setup properly first.
