Ok, everyone in the RTC growing challenge, I am posting a thread entitled "RTC Growing Challenge" in the Catfish Media Lounge, where we can do weekly updates and whoever reaches 2' first wins. What, I'm not sure yet...probably just some glory. Does this soudn good to everyone?

A few comments for this thread. Growing .75" in half a month for a RTC is slow growth at that size, they typically put on 3-4" a month easily at small sizes under a foot. Regarding filtration on a 400g pond, I would double what you initially posted with that quiet one pump's flow rate. You are trying to amass and maintain large catfish species that produce high bio loads (waste) and having less than 2 times the pond turnover an hour which I don't think would really be adequate. I'd do dual quiet ones if it was me in case one fails for some reason down the road you aren't completely filterless while you find a replacement.

Lastly, that spotted pim will get destroyed/eaten within 3 months if you continue to house it with those much faster growing and much larger growing species like RTC/TSN and the RTC.

just found this thread and i completely agree with above. if all your growing on your rtc is 1.5" a month im in on this race with my artc lmfaooooooo. do more w/c's and get the spotted out of the rtc dominated tank.

Who's is growing at 1.5" a month?? Most have missed it. Ronnie has consistently grown nearly 4" a month

Mine is....really slow growth for some reason, do 10 gallon WCs daily, can't do any more than that my mom freaks when I use al the hot water. As for the pond it will have 2x 1,321gph pump on it giving it a little over 6x turnover...that should be enough no?

That is a great starting rate on the pond. Sense u will be using 2 pumps internally it will be expandable in the future providing more flow when it's necessary are u going to use that filter design We talked about the other day?

Yes I am. I may tweak the dmensions though, so I can fit it through the door of my room. thinking of a 6'x4'x2' now, 270 gallons, but plenty wide for them.
