Whats the Australis like?

Awesome fish man and brilliant pics of them!

thanks! the australis is pretty peaceful, although i recently had to add a slightly smaller Anguilla rostrata (American eel) to the mix and they don't get along so well...the rostrata stays away though, and they seem to be coexisting fine. the australis is a pig, but gets along well with the bichirs and ctenopoma :)

What's that eel? And In your delhezi, I don't see the black markings that I usually see on delhezi - are they that variable? Never seen one like this before.

the eel pictured is Anguilla australis, the short-finned eel.

having kept several delhezi, i can tell you that their pattern can be extremely variable. i had one that i sold a few years ago that had a very minimal dark pattern, but plenty of the yellow and brownish-green speckling. again, its variation from one individual to the next, and of course this is a small guy, so more can develop as he gets older.

Sweet fish and pics. Nice AUL. Most Aul's that I have seen have their fins all chewed up. Yours look really good. Perfect actually. And nice T-gar.

thanks! yeah, the AULs usually come in with little nubs of fins since they are kept with other AULs back at the farm and if they are kept in groups later, but luckily this guy was separated early enough that his fins developed very well. my previous AUL had nipped fins early on, and they never grew back properly; i'm happy with this guy though!--

EDIT: correction, i mistakenly typed that the Ctenopoma in the first post was a weeksii, when in fact it is Ctenopoma kingsleyae...whoops!
