I am not sure if the Polish article is using the right pics or if the initial article was as the two types do not look alike, hmmm. The one you IDed as a Euryrynchus has claws more typical of a snapping shrimp. Here is the initial link (I found it again) http://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/biodiversitii/bio/fw_prawn.html
This is the reference the discovery is from but I cant find the publication mentioned,
Yeo, D. C. J. and K. L. Ng, 1996.
A new species of freshwater snapping shrimp, Alpheus cyanoteles (Decapoda: Caridea: Alpheidae) from Peninsular Malaysia and a redescription of Alpheus paludicola Kemp, 1915.
Raffles Bulletin of Zoology, 44(1): 37-63.
Snapping or pistol shrimp are safer to handle and keep than mantis shrimp, their oversize claws don't smash or stab but rather use supercavitation to produces a localised sonic blast that stuns or even kills it's prey, but some do have the enlongate porpotions typical of the mantis shrimp.

Jackie stated the shrimp to be from the Amazon ("Malaysia" was apparently a mistake on the part of the wholesaler), and they seem very similar to my own Euryrhynchus.
Cool, mis-transciptions can be a pain, is the Euryrhychus you have an amazoniensis? Are they snapping shrimp, they seem to have the right claw shape.

I just looked up Euryryhynchus and all I could find a pic of (at least on a quick search) was the amazoniensis, is that what you have? Are they snapping shrimp, They seem to have the right shape claws.
