Not pricey, and good for a 55 does not exist. Pressurized CO2 is definitely the way to go, but this is not cheap. CO2 supplements, such as Flourish Excel will help, but it is more likely that your nutrients are out of balance. Add ferts, and get a good test kit to know the problem.

ok pics up...u see how they are getting brown spots and stems...well now its way worsr...tank isnt finished by the way either....maybe u guys could give me some nice ideas on what to put in there to finish filling it up and looking good...thanks

a test kit for???...i have all my normal stuff...ph, amonia, nitrate, nitrite...what else should i be testing??...and im willing to spend a decent amount...just dont want to diss out like 200 bucks...so i mean what do u suggest??...how much is a decent pressurized co2 kit??...and whats a good one for a planted tank beginner??

For a good pressurized CO2 tank and reg setup w/ pH controller, you are looking way over $200. Personally I have a full range test kit. The plants look fine... however, the swords are in their emersed form still, and the leaves will die off completely, and new submerged leaves will grow, and stay.

Yeah, don't worry about the swords. When I got mine I totally freaked out when all the leaves died. I thought I had just wasted my money. However, new totally different looking leaves grew back and it looks much better.

None of the plants you're growing require CO2. As said previously, wait out the swords...they'll look better in a couple of months.

All plants need co2. It is part of the process of photosynthesis. These plants don't need co2 to be injected, but they will benefit from it. Emersed swords can be changed into fully submerged plants with 20+ leaves in only a month in my main plant tank.

That's what I meant. He doesn't need CO2 injection.

I've got both injected and low-tech tanks. IMO, injection is too much trouble for someone casually keeping a few plants, especially plants that don't require a high-tech setup to thrive. Sure, the swords could grow faster, but they would do just fine, albeit growing slower in a low tech tank.

personally, I just go with flourish excell (make sure it is flourishe EXCELL). My tank is much more heavily planted than your tank, and everything is doing fine.
