I have a 100 Gallon Community Tank and my tank setup is shown at the left.

I currently have a Eheim 2217 running on it. I know that's probably not enough because it's rated at a flow of 265 gal/hr and I know my tank is overstocked. I'm planning to sell a few fish and feed less to help with the bioload.

Is there a better filter you can recommend? How much of a water turnover rate is needed for a tank with my kind of stocklist?

Also, is it a better idea to use 1 huge cannister filter or just add another smaller filter to the eheim 2217 I currently have? I was thinking of buying a smaller one, but the water flow of 2 big canister filters must be like swimming in a vortex for my fish.

Any filter you can recommend to me? I'd prefer a canister instead of a HOB because I like how quiet canisters are. Thanks again.

I would just add another canister. Since you already have the one, adding another would increase the flow and provide a fail safe in case one of them stops running.

if you add another canister of the same flow rate the rate will be like 540 gallons an hour. that should work fine because i have a sump on my 100g tank (overstocked) and it has a flowrate of 550 gallons per hour!

BTW: is that you in the pic..LOLZ..

pick up a jebo canister.. they are super cheap and last forever... true they are not top of the line or anything but they work and are great for bio
