The PH is around 8.5 and hard.

Ok.. that ph right there already i can say..u shouldnt keep pleco.. its too high of pH for pleco.. who needs low 6.5-7.8...

L-14 goldie pleco, is a nice pleco, very active and rare.. they eat meat and veggie.. and ph is best at 7.5.. temperature is low 78-82 or 84 MAX...

Great discus tank plecos..

But your setup is african.. and plecos are south american/ amazon.. i would highly recommend something else.. not a good idea to keep exotics.. try a common..
