Noticed my TT had an injured eye this afternoon, I've moved to a isolated tank and will add a 1/2 dosage of aquarium salt(1/2 tablespoon per 5 gallons).

Any advise? My real question is whether or not the eel can take full dosage of salt or Melafix.

Hard to get pics of this guy, so I took the opportunity to snap a couple. Looks to be 23 to 24".

Did a search(man having an eel forum is nice) looks like they can handle salt. Gonna up the dosage to one tablespoon per 5 gallons. I'll do 33% water changes and see how it goes.

Any body know regarding dosage of melafix or other meds?

Hmmm... not much action here is the eel forum LOL

well seeing as their scaleless its hard to tell. i know some scaleless fish cannot handle quick cure, but i think if there was a real danger it would be stated on the bottle.

I was going to post here yesterday but completely forgot. Oops...Anyway, water changes should always suffice. Can't hurt to add salt but this is not necessary and neither is Melafix.

They can handle both of those just fine i would add a little melafix keep the water as clean as you can and hoepfully it will heal up

I don't think it's an injury, now the other eye has become cloudy. I'm gonna add melafix and do 50% daily changes. This has worked well with my other fish, but those were definetly injuries.
