Recommended floating pellets for Big, Herbivorous Cichlids?

If you go to the Omega One web site you can check out the full product line. If you have any questions or are looking for a distributer in your area the customer service dept. is really good at getting back to you. I use the small floating pellets even for larger fish. My fish love everything Omega One and the ingred. list is impressive. The Petsmarts by me carry both the Omega One products and Bio-Gold+. Where in NJ are you?
Your fish are actually omnivoirs not strictly herbavoirs so some animal proteen is required, just not and over abundance of it. I have always given Sevs and occasional earthworm or Krill with no adverse affects.

As far as using garlic goes, I ues chopped fresh garlic in a small bowl put in some skinned peas mix it up left it in a few hours and fed it to the fish. If they happen to eat a piece of garlic in the process all the better.

Aquanero - I know Sevs are omnivores, but they get a ton of prawn, earthworm, krill, and those other foods advertised for arowana (they steal it right from him, sometimes even snatching a particularly large piece from his mouth). Their MAIN diet is meat right now - that's whats concerning me.
That's why I'm looking for food aimed at herbivorous fish.
I'll definitely be trying the garlic then - that seems really simple. I cook almost all my own meals, so that'll be simple enough.
I live in Union County (btwn North/Central, close to Pet Shanty and Shark). It's not that they don't have Omega One, just that they don't have the full line of it. I asked Pet Shanty to order some of the large pellets for me though.


The Bio-Gold confuses me. I do a little bit of research with equine nutrition and like to think I'm fairly well versed in human nutrition... and there's just no way I'd consider this to be a good omnivorous food. Maybe that's just me though. Providing vitamins is not equivalent to eating vegetables.

That info changes things, if they are getting all that from the Aro then a good veggie diet is the way to go. The Bio-Gold is great in conjuction with veggies, but in your case not needed. I like Pet Shanty but not not the same since Doug left, Shark Aquarium is awsome. GL and let me know how you make out. Check out the MFK Meets section I'm trying to get one together in Sept. I had that information about the aro food in my original post, haha. But anyhow, my big female is starting to take chunks of algae wafer if I crumble it up a bit. At least that's a start. Annoying to feed, though.

I've wanted to go to MFK meets since forever ago, so I'll definitely look into that. I'm not in the state during the year though - I'm at college and work part-time in that area so it's really not too likely that I can show up. But thanks for the heads up!
