Recommended Pellet?

I personally do not feed pellets to my fish AT ALL (I used to, but stopped years ago). I just don't feel comfortable feeding them pellets, I sometimes over think myself of how much crap they put in pellets. Why not feed real food? It's a bit pricey but worth it.

I feed my cichlids red wigglers, meal worms, blood worms, wax worms, earthworms, beetles, crickets, flies, moths, spiders, roaches, market shrimp, scallops, squid, tilapia, and sometimes guppies.

Not to mention I gut load the insects with carrots, rasberries, and kiwi. From my experience my fish got SOOO much more color when they were fed this then pellets.

But, if I had to choose one pellet brand to feed to my cichlids it would be NLS for sure.

I see your point...but feeding excessive amounts of live food is a big risk for parasites...other than that the fruit are a good choice. Why not just NLS? With them, you know what they are putting in the pellets plus it has all that fruit you feed them + garlic to help prevent those parasites.

OP, NLS is the best choice imo!

I haven't encountered a parasite, if anything I am preventing them. Yes NLS has fruit + garlic but how much do they add? seriously? I know the amount I'm feeding and am happy with it.

If I had to convert to pellets I would pick NLS over any other pellet any day.

Yea Its hard to tell really how much they add unless you get the thera+a which has the mega dose of garlic and you can actually smell it!

The other real benefit of pellets would be some of the vitamins they carry, such as the stable forms of vitamin-c NLS uses which is really beneficial for a prolonged/healthly life. Other than that, another plus are some of the natural color enhancing ingredients that are easily digestible such as spirulina and antartic krill.

Im sure you know what live food you are feeding your fish so your ok on the parasites...but for example ive seen flowerhorn breeders feed alot of live shrimp to their FHs to "pump" them up then eventually they are full of worms when it all relys on genetics anyways.
But anyways, I hope the OP can see why some of us love NLS so much!

Appreciate all the replies, I'm going to grab some NLS today :) I've been feeding them Tetra Veggie just because that's what I had left from my switch from Mbuna's, but figured I'd get something more appropriate now that all my Mbuna's are gone.
