I got the Sen at Petsmart, and when I asked the dude "what would you recommend as a diet?" he said "flakes mostly". It's when I read stuff like what you wrote that I laugh at people like this xD

I'll either start with sinking carnivore or broken massivore, depends which one I can get easiest, and if he doesn't take 'em I'll try the other. Thanks :)

:ROFL:Really, the only thing incorrect on the Petsmart Senegal Care card is it says they get 18"....That kid must be wacked/or he is just new

when i get new bichirs, i try HBH soft sinking pellets and that always seems to do the trick. and then after that, I feed NLS sinking to all my bichirs. I haven't had one not accept HBH yet. I prefer NLS over massivore/carnivore because it's much less messy.

i agree hbh is accepted well by alot of bottom feeders. i got my senegal form petsmart too and with such the small size i feed mine hbh african cichlid attack. my bichir loves it.

also small pieces of raw shrimp or prawn. lots of different frozen foods

Yeah, sinking carnivore pellets and shrimp pellets, and also switch up between frozen bloodworms, beefheart plus, earthworms, frozen shrimp, and then he steals the crickets from my butterfly fish and the tubifex cubes from my knife fish. He's a jerk when it comes to food.

My two sen's eat a steady diet of the hikari sinking carnivore pellets. Every once in a while I try and throw in some freezedried blood worms, but they mostly just seem to ignore them and it just litters my tank:\

I'd like to expand their diets a little bit, but I'm short on cash...when I can afford to expand my OWN diet a little bit I'll work on expanding theirs as well:nilly:

I think we're running in circles but
a varied diet is best, and they'll eat a variety of foods
when a Senegal is excited about what you offer, you'll know it
mix it up anyway, it's good for him

Well I could only go to Petsmart today to get food, no time to go to my LFS and see what they have quite yet, and they didn't have any sinking carnivore pellets. All they really had were floating cichlid pellets

All they had I could really get to try were Aquarian sinking shrimp pellets, and he's actually taken a liking to them, though I don't think I'm gonna stick with them. Gonna feed them to him tonight, then tomorrow go to my LFS to see if they have sinking carnivore pellets and vary it a little. Thanks for all the input guys :)
