Potential Tank mates?

Goonches are not active swimmers so they don't need a lot of room to swim. How big yours is now? Kept mine at 4-8" in a 40g. From 8-15" had him in the 100g. Its currently in my 300g at 18" but I'd could have kept him in the 100 only moved him cause I needed to keep some other fish in my 100 that he'd eat.

well im building a 250g and I'm exploring the potential candidates for stock

1000 gallons when it grows to 6 feet+. it'll take more then half a decade though.

When talking about a fish that has the genetic potential to get 7' long and over 230 pounds, it is impossible to over estimate the size of tank that you need.

For the average fish kept by the average hobbyist, I would suggest no less than 1000 gallons for an adult fish, though over a sufficiently long period of time even that will prove to be too small.
