That had to be a fat ass fish to be that big at 27". I caught a 27" and it was only 10 lbs.

It sounds kinda skinny to me...the Colorado state record largemouth was only 22.5" and it weighed 11-6. Granted, I have seen 22" bass that were only about 5lbs as well.

22" at 5lbs???? You say that like that is small. Man, in Nebraska where I grew up that would be a sweet fish. I have a 20" that is mounted on my wall and it was only about 4lbs. He looks healthy and fat. So for a 22" to be 11lbs, that is stinking huge! At that size, around 20" or so, seems like most healthy bass gain about a pound an inch at that size. Just my thoughts.

A 22" fish that weighs 5lbs is small compared to a 22" fish that weighs 11lbs lol. I've never caught a bass over 20", so I certainly don't think any 22" bass is small...

It was an estimate on weight, but it was fat and 27" long. I measured it but didn't have a scale with me.

It is a healthy Florida strain fish not overly fat or skinny. Actually two months earlier out of New Melones (same general area here in California) a fisherman caught a fat 28 inch fish that weighted 18 pounds in a tournament and is a world record bass for being caught in a tournament.

The pond is a unique pond being 12 acres and unlike most farm ponds has got 5 acres or 20 foot deep water. The picture I have got was taken on a cell phone and emailed to me and if I there is a way to post a picture from an email I can post this picture (I'm not a techie). I have a copy of the fish framed on my apartments wall even though I did not catch the fish or was even there. Figured it was worthy of mounting since I was the one managing this fishery.

I know of a pond here in Colorado (super secret Denver water owns this land and has kicked me out a few times) I caught 12 LMB in 1 1/2 hours not one of them being under 3lbs.

No fish story here but i caught a bass that was a good 20 inches and well over the 9lb mark
