At 9 inches they should start to show a little blush on their checks and you will see a faint orange on the fins and some color coming through the scales. At 14 to 16 inches the scale outline should be deep orange and the 5th level shine should be coming through and at 18 inches you should really know what the potential is going to be.this is from my experience with mine growing up in taiwan. You can go to arofanatics and the guys over there can help you more you just have to bear with their foreign sense of humor.Frm the looks of your pics it looks like a red ,genetics will play a huge role on its potential.

If you look at the head region does it look greenish or more purplelish?

At the head region its more purplelish. The top region of the aro is more purplelish and has a tint of red. From the middle side to the bottom is more light in color. Guess I just wait it out. If it doesnt turn red oh well.... I'll still love the fish

as wht ive seen...ur aros shud be super-red coz i also hv the same size of fish which has the same colours!!! its easily 2 differs a baby super-red/red/1.5 red! mine only the tails n fins reds...others all in silver!

Red or not, either way its a good looking fish. Like Gr8 said check out the parents and you'll get a better idea. Good luck.

reds will start colouring at the cheeks at around 10 inches, after that it really depends on the genes of the fish. My red coloured up at 13in along its whole body yet my friends one didnt both came from the same batch.

All are classified under the cat. Grade 1 super red. regardless chilli red or blood red or whatever so-called branded red, all are Grade 1 Super red.

Red usually will start to show colouration on the gill plate region when it reach 10-12 months of age.
