red aro or xback aro comm?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The Xback's will have a higher aggression level next to RTG, so it might be better selecting reds which are larger in size. Are you throwing all 4 fish in at the same time? Otherwise, one might be territorial.

4 aro com is still risky. Even at 5, my friend still managed to lose 1 aro to his mean RTG. Luckily, it was a banjar red.

How big is the tank?

reds will get bigger than the xbacks

red 3ft+
xback 2ft+

the reds will be less aggressive than the xbacks

you will probably have big problems with a 4 aro com you will need 6 aros or more

i would go for 4 x xbacks 2 x reds

well the rtg i had fought with everything in the tank including my TigXrtc first day he had him in his mouth and shacking but i hear u have to have 1 or like 7 its insane!! but dunno about reds and xbacks

also the rtg was solo for a while

most aros are fine with other fish as long as you com them from youg with other fish (apart from jars)

start the com of with 6+ aros from 6-7inch and you should be fine

i have 6 x xbacks in my com and their is hardly any aggression at all a lot less than i was expecting as this is the 1st aro com i have ever done

it looks soooo sweet the best thing i have ever done with FW fish

reds do nothing for me and would get the xbacks but i think the key to a happy com is 6+ aros

4 aros are usually bad practice since they would fight very heavily. Especially in small tank. The "safe" number is usually 5 or larger. You can mix golden and red in any combination, even 4 to 1. Therefore you must first consider the size of your tank.
Second, even when you failed to get the "SUPER RED" color of your reds, it would still give more gold-like color than the golden. If xbacks is your thing then get the xbacks reds. The key is to look for metallic color at the top of aros, they would turn to gold or red upon maturity even if they are metallic green at the moment.
