Red Belly Pacu or Red Belly Piranha ?

Darn it, I told myself that I have to get rid of Mr Pacu, but I actually can't. I don't know, I just love this little guy but he's been so nasty to his tankmates. This morning I saw he was chewing the tail of one Kissing Gourami. Imagine when he gets big, he could even chew off my Aros.
I then went to buy a 30 gals tank for him, put him in there now, I will wait after a period to see how he behaves. I hope he will be a good boy, not a nasty boy rite now.
Anyway, BOLTY, you have a nice Pacu there. How many gallons of ur tank? It looks like a big tank. Your Mr Pacu behaves good to his tankmates ? What else you have in ur tank beside that 2 Mr Pacus and Silver Dollars? Thanks.
 
LOL...."Mr.Pacu" the freakish piranha....dee-dee-dee.....LOL.....My lfs has 5 inchers for $9.99....Nice red coloration too....I was thinkng of growing one out with my young shoal(they the same size, coincidence)...You know, to show the difference in growth rate, behaviour, feeding, whatever....
 
I guess I am lucky..my lfs actually asks me questions if I am trying to buy a fish so that I dont get the wrong thing for my tanks.. Why they still sell Pacus to unsuspecting people... I hope it works out for you!
 
pacus are carnivores an it will eat any thing in its tank i had one an it grow to be about 10" from head to tell an all it would eat is feeder fish

pacu's are scientificaly OMNIVORES leaning herbivores (i honestly dont care about your biased experience) cahnces are you had those results becuase all you fed it was feeder fish :banhim:


let me geuss your pacu died at 10" ? did you know there maximum size in captivity is 36" ?

normaly i would've just let this thread sink back into the depths of MFK and not post but since it was already bumped by "Mr Ignorant" over there i figure i couldn't let him spread his ignorance
