Could I possibly house a red belly pacu with my oscars. They will be in a 280 in a couple of months and I was wondering if anyone in the tank would be to aggressive. I'm also going to stock green terrors and jack dempsys. I want the pacu to be the center piece. Also if you have any advice on care anything will be appreciated

I would say probably not. I heard they can still get 2 feet long. If it would be 3-4 feet wide then possibly
I am planning on an upgrade in the future maybe in a year or two but I will be getting him at around 4 inches

Honestly I'm not sure on growth rate. You're better off asking pacu mom or other members who have kept pacu. One word of advice is get the large tank first before you go into monster fish. So you can be sure you can house them

Skittish and powerful swimmers.

"I rescued mine a year ago @ 1.5" now one year later it's 17"! And I wasn't POWER feeding!"

"Yeah, watching the ones here grow the reds and blacks grow the fastest... reds slightly faster. Mine went from 6" to well over 30" in less than a year."

What might happen is that in less than a year, the Oscars, the GT and the JD will be killed or they will harass the Pacu and it will make an attempt to pound the tank glass at full speed.

A well-kept Pacu will not be a good fit at 1 year. 2 years, not a chance.

Also keep in mind that if you decide that you don't want the Pacu anymore it may be difficult to even give away.
