I know lots of you have bred these and my guys arent real big, but at what size of each species can you start expecting some courting and breeding to occur?

my red ceibals bred when they were about 3", Heros efaciatus and severus around 7", and notatus around 5-6". It probably depends on the age also...

I believe that I have 2 males and a female with the red ceibals and they are at least 3" right now. I have a male and a female of both of the Notatus and Rotkeil but they are 3-4" each. Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully the new layout will entice some breeding.

so is the one I sent you a male or a female? still think it's a he...

whatever it is, it's ready!

I believe it to be a male as well. Jeff sent me a male and a female, so ill let the female do the picking but I sure would like her to pick that wild male.

my red ceibals bred at 3". Worst parents ever..

haha well lets hope thats not the case with these ones. what temperature did they breed in?

According to Matt you have to put right amount of pressure on the parents. Too little they won't spawn. Too much they eat the eggs.

how would you do that? im no breeding pro. just have always let the fish do the work.
