From my research yeah, people have talked about as small as a 2.5 but 10 or 20 usually what's recommended for a breeding colony

You manage to keep them in an unheated tank in Washington this time of year? I had just bought a heater that I later realized doesn't have adjustments on it so it just stays at 78, i was gonna take it back and see if i could swap it but if they can manage in an unfiltered tank in the washington winters...why bother right?

Yeah, it's been over 3 months in that tank now. My other tanks are heated, but this one was more of an experiment. Has worked so far. I've heard of people keeping cherry shrimp in ponds outdoors. they won't breed when temperatures get down.

yea if they would in a 5.5 i would but i dont wanna waste my time or $$$

I just started breeding them as well in washington and have females that have saddles but have not berried,Do you have a pointers on anything, I keep them in a 12 gallon nano, they were in my big planted tank but wantd to breed them so I put them in the nano by themselves, started out with 25, 8 or so saddled now, the ph is 7.0-7.2 and temp is 78-80'f and feeding them pieces of Hikari algse wafers and zuchini,Thanks for any tips you have.

Try doing a water change. About 30%?
I heard shrimp love to molt after water changes, and molting means the females release pheromones into the water, which attracts males, and then they mate.

I just had 5 molt 2 days ago on the moss and did a water change last night. Do you add any salt to help them with the molt??
