Red Cherry Shrimp Breeding Project for Extra Food Source

Look for local fish club auctions or craigslist, very easy to breed so not hard to find. You'd do better with a sand substrate, much food will fall too far down into your gravel for the shrimp to reach. Lots of java moss and lots of light to promote algae growth for the shrimp to feed on. Once your colony gets well established you can easily pull a 100 shrimp a month to sell or for feeders.

Im getting more excited about this project every post! i found some rcs yesturday but they were no less than 3.99 a piece around here =( which is y i didnt get any yesturday. I will get some sand to put over the top of my gravel! you dont mean i could get 100 a month with a 10 gallon tank do you?

Yes, will take a few months to build up your colony, but 100 per month is doable

Just something to be aware of. I put sand over gravel one time because I didnt feel like changing it over altogether. The sand ended up sinking below the gravel line and I ended up taking it all out anyway.
