The thai micro crabs? Yeah they are like a very light brown almost white in color... Very cool inverts considering they are as far as i know the only fully aquatic fw crab that can live with dwarf shrimp which is a bonus :)

They do need to get out of the water, it benefits them in a couple ways.

1. they eventually drown
2. Breathing air is good for their insides
3. Being able to get dry i'm sure is comfortable and its beneficial to the shell
4. The resistance of gravity makes the crab much stronger, as while they are in water they can move much more easily, they are much "heavier" outside.

And i'm not sure how full saltwater affects them, but the land is a must have. They actually prefer to have alot of land , and if you have multiple crabs you need alot more space or they will go to war. Crabs are territorial, claim their turf and with a couple hours of observation with most crabs you can see how the tank's territory is divided. You also need many hiding places for the crabs.

So today when i got home from work i saw that my largest, biggest crab, Godzilla, was turned over on his back dead.

I'm not sure what caused it but i was very shocked. This was the most active of my crabs, the crab who ate the most, and he was the only one i ever saw actually KILL a cricket. At least he lives on in video :')

Yeah the original one i had was a glass tube style, it was too big for my tank. So i unplugged it for over 10 minutes [!] and took it out , it sizzled, cracked and broke dropping hot glass all over my palm . Jeez, that one was haywire and the second one sucks, luckily we have the internet lol!

Wow good point! the heater broke far outside the tank , i'm lucky though because the burns weren't bad , nothing but skin burns no blistering luckily.

Okay good to hear because I remember in science class our teacher said mercury seeps into your skin and corrodes your brain cells and doesn't stop until your dead or you get treatment for it.
