If you got it from a LFS- 97% chance says it's Rd/Midas, quote]

That's a pretty precise statistic, are you sure it's not 96%. What makes you sheriff of red devil/midas county.

what exactly is that supposed to mean? the fact of the matter is no one here understands RD/midas hybrids, and the LFS and retail petstore market.

Dont mean to steal your thread but What differences are there between a Midas and a Red Devil besides the lips? Is there temperment the same?

not a whole lot of difference.

different species obviously, Cit's and Lab's.

many midas have been known to have blue eyes.

size is very simalar for purebred Rd's and midas. midas growing bigger 15" where as Pure Rd's around 13". many of the hybrids grow smaller 11-12"

WC (F0) Rd's and midas, will almost always have odd black splotching on their bodies, where as captive bred Hybrids and others don't get these markings.these species have been known to Change markings rapidly while growing from juvi's to adults. many are completly differnet looking as adults, with differnt colors.

looks like it has some midas in it to me, but what do i know

oh, yeah, beautiful fish!

Thank you for all the good words everyone!
I'm disappointed that there is no way of knowing, seeing how it's from my lfs, I suppose it's a hybrid. However, it's a juvie from the display devils in the front...I regret not buying one from Rapps.

All devils/midas change color at different times, this one changed at about 4", and I predict he'll change a bit more.
