Very similar personalities comes down to preference, I like the heavier build of midas
find the hybrid midevils to be alot more grumpy then either the pure options
try guy called odd ball express he does imports for the states on the regular

I'm looking for a wet pet and thought either a midas or red devil or hybrid of the two would fit the bill.

Might seem crazy but they are hard to come by in the uk atm, i can order red devil but can't find a male midas.

My question is if there is any different personality wise between the two, i know most are not a pure breed but i still wondered.

Also are wild caught fish more shy than tank bred fish?
They are all considered Ampholphous family. In that family there are random individuals of mild - highly aggressive doesnt matter what specie. But the most active responsive family to keep as wet pet is the Ampholophous family imo.

I wish I can keep all the fish I like. but as much as I can keep, all my fish are Ampholophous and Ampholophous related FHs(except my baby blue texas who is bold as well). I love this family of fish and their brave outgoing personality.

Oddball express is not trading atm, most of my fish are from their. Hoping he starts back up soon as the imported fish from the states are far better then the stock in are lfs.

I never have enough room either but i managed to swap a few fish around and free up a tank. All my fish are still growing out and are pretty shy so i fancy a bold in your face cichlid. I would prefer a midas but a Red Devil is a close second, chances are i will end up with a hybrid anyway.

Sometimes a Midevil can look nicer and more personality than both. And it iS both.
Im going to draw me some Ampholophous!

Red Devils are sweet fish. I had one about 8in or so. Very personable, very aggressive.
