red devil bites

I haven't had experience with RDs... but I have with other fairly large cichlids. Imagine whacking your hand with a sharp serated steak knife, and that's a decent comparison lol

I've been bitten by Red Devils before only warning nips not a full on attack. Very rewarding fish to own

I know I have one they are like dogs mixed with demons they are a cool fish mine is a female that would kill anything including my jaguar that is 5 inches larger

I once got bit off my old Red Devil from years ago... he was 16. Anyway, he got a hold of my finger and let me tell you that hurt!! and he wouldn't let go, either... I had to flick him across the snout to make him release and when he did there were blooded teeth marks on the tip of my finger and a few teeth had broken off and embedded themselves in my fingernail. My nail got slightly infected aswell and it took a few mouths for the teeth to grow out to the tip of my nail.

my hubby gets bit by our old red devil almost everytime he does a water change.. yes they can hurt.. but most of the time it is the surprise feeling that hurts the worst.. and you end up banging your hand because it felt weird.....lol They can draw blood.. i have an old thread way back from hubbys very cut finger.

And once upon a time, maybe 10 years ago, a huge midas/red devil bite my finger; ı have 4 juncture...
