Im after finding a beautiful 5-6" Red Devil and i was thinking of getting it for my Oscar tank? The O is 12" but ive heard that RD's can be quite aggressive themselves :grinno: so dya tink it would be alright? Hope its a male, love the bump they get on there head as they mature:ROFL:ha? Hopefully get it this sunday all being well?

All depends on the fish. I may or may not work.

Hope they hit it off, theres a few logs in the tank for the RD to hide at first if it feels intimidated!

Yeah, it's kind of a game of chance with red devils and other less aggressive fish. They may be just fine together for months and then one day you'll wake up to a dead oscar. :(

See the thing is, my Oscar aint Passive one bit and id be afraid that the O would kill the RD before it even gets a chance to settle in?! Trust me, the RD wont kill this O :grinno:. I have to buy him/her tough, beautiful fish! Id be sad if i have to bring it back, id prob buy a poly endli instead then!

Once the RD settles in it would only be a matter of time before the Oscar would be dead. If you like you Oscar dont do it.

I have to totally disagree with you on that one! Check that vid out, i know its only temporary accomidation for the O but the tank is quite small?!

My O is twice as big as the RD in question and the tank i have is alot bigger than the one in that video?! They seem alri??

I had an oscar that was about 14in. that was just a beast. Would try to bite me every time I fed or stuck my hand in the tank and that was in a 210. It totally owned about a 12in rd and a 9in jag. The aggressive oscars aren't as common, but they are there. If you think your oscar can handle the RD, I say go for it. Just be ready with an alternative plan if it doesn't work out.

I really wouldn't trust it in the long term. Will probably work for a short time. It might work, but if you are attatched to your fish don't do it. Your oscar might be a beast, but a rd will make short work of even the most agro oscar.

Yeah, that seems to be true because my O aint as passive like what other people here describe theres as? Hes a beast and still growing! In fairness, i really hope they get on well tough! Hopefully i'll have some pics up on the net sometime next week with the two of them in tandem :D!

Cheers for the comments guys!
