I really wouldn't trust it in the long term. Will probably work for a short time. It might work, but if you are attatched to your fish don't do it. Your oscar might be a beast, but a rd will make short work of even the most agro oscar.

I think im gona go with it and if theres a problem i'll give the RD to my dad, he has a couple of 200 gallon tanks at home! If i dont go with the RD, what other Cichlid would use guys go with that you think would work in the long run??

Blood Bath waiting to happen.

my advice propbably wont help because if your set on getting the RD/midas you will get it anyway.

it will only be a matter of time, the RD may need to mature a little more first but id put money on the oscar being dead by time the RD reaches 8"

if your lucky enough to find a placid RD/midas then it may work, but i cant see it happening to be honest.

other cichlids that could work in your tank are possibly a green terror or a jack dempsey.

No, i think i have been convinced not to get it but i am gona be on the look out for a GT, Severum or JD at an appropriate size? Cheers for the advice that everyone gave!

No matter who is stronger than who, your still just going to end up with two beaten fish with shredded fins and missing scales. Just save yourself the trouble in the long run and get a gt or jd as said above.

Will not work long term at some point the RD will snap. Some people will say they have done it & Ya may get by with it for a while but not permanent.

In my experience, Oscars are pushovers and RD's are killers. However, Oscar's are one of the few big cichlids that are very capable of finding tank mates for. I think a JD would def work. Maybe some sort of Vieja like a Blackbelt? The one I had, was big and passive.
