Red Devil is 6 inches the nic is about 5, i also have a 12 inch oscar, 3 5-6 inch silver dollars, 1 6 inch red horseface, 2 3-4 inch green horseface and a 7 inch featherfin catfish.RD.;4106942; said:What size is your RD, as well as the Nic that you recently added?
Also, same info for any other tank mates, and what size is this tank?
As Camshaft stated, it could just be stress, and I suspect that most of the RD's in AU would be RD/Midas crosses, so yes the change in color could be due to stress, especially if it's a juvenile.
As far as what you are feeding, you don't need to add anything to the diet. NLS contains plenty enough astaxanthin to provide your fish with all of the natural color enhancing agents that it requires. See the fish below for an example of what a good quality RD looks like when fed NLS.

I would highly recommend putting him into his own tank.
Why are devils outside red compared with fish inside usually orange, pink or white?Modest_Man;4107240; said:Chris got banned.
Here's a devil I caught in a retention pond on Oahu. How much NLS was it fed? None.

NLS is a great food, but posting that photo of a fish kept outdoors (and fed NLS) and stating "See the fish below for an example of what a good quality RD looks like when fed NLS." is terribly misleading.
Is Chris' fish color due to sunlight, or NLS? Probably a combination of both, but strongly favoring sunlight.
My bet is that the fish is simply going through a second color change.
