Is this a juvi RD? It's currently a little more than an inch long.

It doesn't look like any red devil I have ever owned. My vote would go to flowerhorn or just a "mutt" for a lack of a better term.

I just did some searching and found a picture of some juvenile midas cichlids that look quite a bit like yours. Here is the link. http://www.midas-cichlid.com/midasgallery8/midas_cicdxgasswr.jpg

Here is another midas picture with the red eyes. http://www.midas-cichlid.com/midasgallery8/midas_cicdnhgfug.jpg

Here is a gallery with quite a few more pictures. http://www.midas-cichlid.com/midas_gallery2.html

Where did you pick your fish up? Unless it was from someone such as Rapps or Davis I would imagine it is a red devil / midas mix. It's hard to get a pure red devil or midas these days at a lfs.

Looks like an RD to me! The snout gives it away.

Agree. Pix are not so great but its a juvi so when it grows out a bit the color will peel.

Keep us posted!

:iagree: 100% looks like a juvie RD/Midas :)

It looks llike a juvie Amphilophus, beyond that who knows, depends on where you got it, since you are asking what it is, most likely the low grade mix sold in the trade, pure A. labiatus are rare today. Most of the pictures you see posted of any A. labiatus or A. citranellus on this site are crosses. AK-47 saying a 1" fish of unknown ancestry is a pure fish is rediculus. Ken
