red devil getting beat up

How long before the red devil eggs hatch? Sorry to hijack the thread but my red devil laid eggs and there is no other red devil in the tank, will she eat the eggs if they don't hatch? She is with a JD, Jag, Fenestrstus, Flowerhorn, 2 convicts, and a common pleco.

Eggs usualy hatch within 24-36 hours, they can be wrigglers for 2-4 days depending on many factors including temp, before they are able to feed.
All the other comments are right on the money about getting her out, or at the least separating the pair. Many times the dominant fish takes over and drives the other away, but in a small tank of 55 gallons, death is almost assured for the less dominant one.
Haitiensus take up to 4 or 5 days as wrigglers

DON'T take my word for it. But personally, I would probably let them get back together, and let them lay the eggs, since you said that her tube is sticking out and that he is ready for some action. However, I don't know how much your female is worth to you, and if you have gotten emotionally attached. The problem is that he could kill her.
So I took out the divider yesterday. He has been real nice to her and they have been getting along great. She laid about 400 to 500 eggs today. They are currently taking care of the eggs together, I think he is still trying to fertilize them. I will monitor them closely and separate them if I see anything.

very kool-hope things work out for you.1st spawns tend to be flakey.either one of the parents may eat them.then 3 weeks later they will eat all the fry if they are ready to breed again.keep that in mind.you will need to remove the fry for the new fry if she lays again b4 they eat them all to protect the new ones on the way.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a 10 gallon that I use for a feeder tank. I may need to move the fry into it at some point. On second thought, I will probly just leave them and let nature take it's course. Even if they do eat them, they will just lay more eggs and do it again. Besides, what am I honestly going to do with 400 baby red devils? I've got my hands full with the two that I have now.
