I am fairly new to mfk.com, and this will be my first forum post (other than for marketplace and introduction).
I am not sure if I am posting this in the right category but here i go.
And if i am not doing it at right area, please direct me to the correct forum. While your at it, i am seeking advicw for a stock idea for my 125 tank, where would i go for that?
Also please excuse my grammer, as i am writing through my phone with no auto correct. Thanks
So recently i paired up my 2 year old female red devil with a 2-3 year old midas. I introduced them in my 125 tank. It wasnt a good idea but at the time i just threw in the midas, not seperating them and slowly introducing them first.
Now my female RD is a super calm fish for its kind, it previously lived with about 5-10 other medium to very small (from frys to juvie) fishes in a 100 gallon hexagon tank and did not attack any of them.
When i put the midas and red devil together they were alone in the 125. After few hours of settling in, the RD and midas starting attacking each other vigorously, I did a lot of research beforehand and found this normal, so it wasn't a concern for me. The female held its ground and sometimes the male would back off or sometimes the female would back off. But after about 2 and a half days, they stoped fighting and started living with each other peacefully.
They both started moving all the pebbles to one side and created a big empty space. The male would follow the female around expecting and waiting to fertalize her eggs, but she never laid any. This went on for about 2 weeks.
I decided to seperate them with a divider in the 125 since i knew the males become aggressive if females dont lay their eggs.
I only seperated them for about 2 days because they did not want to be seperated at all.... Both, especially the male was always by the divider trying to go through it (it was quite sad actually
)
So i removed the divider.......
@@ohh i just remembered, when i introduced the two and they fought for 2 days, none had serious injuries like many that i've seen before. Other than a little damage on lips, there were no riped fins or scales.both were pretty even but yea the male was still a decent size bigger than the female@@@
.
.
So i removed the divide and let them be at it again. About 3 weeks passed but still no eggs... And the whole process, i did raise the water temperature to 80-84
I moved them to a 55 gallon with no pebbles or decorations, only te essentials and a flat plate.
They have been in there for about 2 weeks now and still no eggs....
Male is more aggressive now while female does nothing at all except eat.
Still no major damge though
So what am i doing wrong?
Will Appreciate the responses and ideas. Thanks
