Hell to the no! That a whole different nasty a Malawi nasty is no tales nipped fins maybe a scale missing or two red devil/Midas nasty is slamming it tank everytime u come near biting UR hand slaying all your fish and shredding it décor because he don't like it. They can get 16inches and probly will I can't think of not one malawi that could hang I could think a of a couple other Africans like emporer or buttokefi which water chemistry would not work and u better have a big tank

thats a bit worrying cos i have got i think a barred one if thats what they are called brown with dark stripes its been in there a while and touch wood its been fine if anything my cichlids have been having a bit of a go at him/her.
its about 4-5 inches seems very carm could be dizzy from all my africans in there and there is so much rock work in there that they loose each other the tank is over 5ft think some where round 140 gallons

Just a matter of time before he/she decide the others aren't welcome. Careful with m/d's and lots of rock work as they do have the ability to send it all crashing down. I'd seperate it out to a tank of its own.

if the rd/midas survives to maturity (and I say if because the malawi might kill him long before he reaches maturity) then odds are very high that he will turn around and begin slaughtering the malawis.

there's a chance it may work, but not a good one. they communicate differently with each other so color changes mean one thing to a malawi whereas they may mean the opposite to a new world. just not a good idea. :)

so there is a slim chance it may be ok, he or she just seems to hiding alot the malawis were in his face alot but have pretty much carmed down.
how long have i got to maturity????

Is it worth risking your fish's lives and over all health? Just buy another tank for the rd.

When it is half grown or so it will snap one day and You will most likely lose some fish.
