red devil/midas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My red devil got nasty at about 4inches and constantly chased a 3-4in jag until it found a way to jump the 40g long growout while I was gone. This was also with plenty of hiding places and I had them together since 1-2in. Already at 1-2in the devil shredded a 2in jack dempsey I had in quarantine with the devil. Both survived but the jack went to a diff tank.

The devil also loved to dig through the gravel enough that it was already able to tip over some of the rocks that werent balanced or fully resting on the glass beneath.

So I would have expected this red devil to get its own tank but I sold it as I wasnt quite ready for a single specimen tank yet.

Hope this helps or at least adds to the devil slays all stories.

im going to be senseable and give it back to shop next week when i re do my tank and remove the un wanted fish

IMO the malawi's would be too fast for a citrinellus so with hiding spots it could work.

give it a try.

that is very possible...provide a lot of hiding spots and they could stay out of the citrinellum's way and stay hidden...but is that really an ideal setup for them? constantly hiding, afraid to come out for food? when they do come out they have to worry about big read pounding them if he gets ahold of them?

just my opinion. :)

I would have to say don't do it. RD/Midas mixes can get downright vicious. The little guy I have is about 5" now and was beating on fish that were 7" in my growout tank when he was not even 3" long.

He's one mean little sucker. Not all RD/Midas mixes are that aggressive, but most are from what I've seen and heard.

yeah dont think i like to risk it any more just in case.
there is a tiny chance it may but dont really nwant to see
