red devil not eating

it's been 4 days now and my devil will not eat anything at all all he does is swim up and down the glass like he is starving but when i put food in he won't go near it he won't even eat flakes i have never seen this before all my fish would at-least take flakes

do you give him sinking pellets.. or frozen blood worms to get his appetite going... how big is he.. sometimes they just need time... but do keep trying.
 
he won't eat the sinking pellets he will not eat anything but he did eat shrimp the first day in the tank now he stopped eating he won't even take anything off the surface it's been 4 days i think this is unusual for a devil isn't it i mean i would think he would be checking the surface by now
 
how big is he? If he does not eat anything soon, give him something meaty such as an earthworm. Almost all fish go crazy for them, Keep trying the pellets aswell. If he does not eat ANYTHING soon, treat for internal parasites.
 
exactly, start looking for the white stringy feces, sunken belly, or small threadlike worms in the fish's anal area. internal parasites could be the culprit
 
no worms that i see and he did eat worms but now won't touch them just like he did eat the dried shrimp but then stopped he won't look at any food i put in but he looks plump in the bellie
 
do you have any praziquantel or metro just in case? If this keeps up for too long it most likely is parasites.
 
no i was thinking after the first day i got him he was eating a lot of freeze dried krill and i have not seen any poop from him in 4 days is there any meds at petsmart i could get that work good that's the only place i got around here
 
they will sell jungle internal parasite tabs, and also API General Cure, which is good IMO
 
i just orderd some prazi pro but i will get some stuff tomorrow after treating how long before they would eat
