This is a true red devil. Your looks more Midas to me as it is bulkier and less lips than a true red devil. I however prefer yours. Awesome fish!

Captive fish don't grow the same sized lips as they do in the wild. It is the same for any other fleshy-lipped species, from South America to Africa. Expecting a devil's lips to look like those on a wild counterpart is unreasonable.

More devil then midas is a safe bet. Looks awsome. I had one before i went to iraQ an he was about that size in a 125 by himself for life then half way thruogh my deployment he commits suiside. Wife found him at 13" dried and stuck to the carpet. he was 9" when I left 6 months later close to 13". My wife did a great job with him. Moral of the story is watchout for the jumping red devil/ midas. GREAT FISH THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

They do like to hit the top of tank don't they!

On another note, dlp40, thank you for your service in Iraq and for keeping us safe and free to do things like keep monster fish, go to football games, Nascar races, fishing, and feel safe and free. I watched The Patriot this morning on TNT from 5-8 a.m., you are no different in my eyes. Thanks for putting your life on the line, it is appreciated and will not be forgotten. God Bless.

ksfishguy, Thanks it's nice to know we're appreciated. Great flowerhorn by the way. I Had a chance a few months ago to get a female at 6" who had just laid but passed due to the 195$ price tag and wife saing he!! no! Great fish man.

You know dlp40 your right about the jumping Red Devils. Mine jumps all the time. I hear him hit the top of the glass all the time. I think it's the drops of evaporated water at the top of the glass dripping back into the water. He must think its bugs or something. I bought the Flowerhorn from a local breeder who was getting out of the hobby. He sold it to me for 60 dollars because he knew I would take care of it. Thanks everyone for the complements. It's nice to know others see the same beauty in these fish as I do.
