I'm not sure why you think those are red devils, when the owner of the video called them out as A. citrinellus. It's best to use photos or videos from owners who can confirm the origin.

What if the owner label them as FH? I guess you would think they are FHs then..

Just look at their mouths and snout and you wont have to assume every one is a hybrid everytime you dont know. A lot of PPL always do that. But man i know some are so in between.
 
I guess that with Midas, Rd's and Trimacs the story is long told. They only are recognized as such if origin is known , the whole chain from capture in the the lakes and travel to our facilities is known and trustworthy.

If not, we are stuck with Midevils or FlowerHorns.

This is why you always want to make sure your fish has papers. ;) But seriously, the distinction only matters to me if I am going for a fish that has a specific look and proportions. However, even wild caught, pure midas and rd appear to have enough variations that there's no guarantees unless you purchase an adult.

Thanks. He's as mean as his color suggests, but only around 7" at this point.
