Red Devil or Midas

There are about 6 different species of Amphilophus that have color morphs like the one in your pic, and unless you know the ancestral catch location, it would be almost impossible to ascertain which one, is which.
If you got it at a LFS, its probably a safe bet to guess that its a hybrid combination of two or more of those 6, which would then make it an aquarium strain Mid-evil.
A true Midas would be Amphilophus citrinellus.
A red devil is Amphilophus labiatus.
But because it was not realized each Nicaraguan lake has separate species that look similar, aquarium strains have been bred together and mixed up for decades.
In short, there is no way to know what you have out of those species with a photo.
They are also not South American, but are from Nicaragua, a country in Central (North) America.
