Update – Red Devil spawn & water change question
Hi everyone,
quick update on my Red Devil pair: they have spawned and are currently guarding their eggs ion a huge stone in a corner. Both parents are behaving very controlled and focused on the nest. The other tank mates are being left alone and are staying in their hiding spots without being harassed.
The tank now runs with a Fluval FX6 in addition to the existing filter. Water is crystal clear, all fish are feeding very well and show excellent coloration.
My question: Is a small water change (around 10–15%) safe during the egg-guarding phase?
Also, would a temperature range of 26–27 °C be ideal during breeding and brood care?
The water change would be done very slowly, with temperature-matched water and away from the breeding site.
I don’t have any good photos or footage yet, as the lighting is currently dimmed and the eggs are laid on the backside of the stone. I’m also avoiding disturbing the pair.
