Red Devil Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Now to make things even worse I just noticed the Sagittae line. What is the main difference in Sagittae & Midas?
Sagittae are more like Labiatus in build, just a bit smaller. Usually around 10". As to your previous question about what they will look like, you never know what collor they will be. Here are two Videos of my current F2 Midas. Raised him up from an egg. You wouldn't guess that he was the same fish. You can also note the dates for a timeline.

Midas at 5", his parents are on the other side of the divider

Now at 13"

Dont forget

Hogaboomorum
xiloaensis
red Isletas
amarillo
chancho
as well as the barred labiatus & citrinellus

Take it easy on him, your going to overwhelm him. Atleast you didn't mention trimaculatus, zaliosus, and lyonsi.;) Whoops, guess I just did it.

I also have two red devils from madness. The father is an awesome wild caught with big lips. The babies are some of most unique Ive seen with the white and orange combo. Ive seen tons of the plain orange ones, so it was awesome to find something a little more interesting looking. I am watching aggression because of their reputation but I am starting off with the ones they will be growing out with including a hoga. So far no issues but then we are only dealing with 3" fish in a 210g. Time will tell...

I have a barred red female. :) Still trying to find a male. I have tried to spawn her with my barred blue male, but he just keeps beating the h*** out of her.

Where do you go about getting one of these RED red devils? I'm looking to get a new cichlid pair for my 135 gallon and its either a festae, green Texas, or red devil in this order depending on what I can get my hands on.

She came from Conkel almost 2 years ago. My male blue's came from Rapps.

This is the one of the "reddest" RD's Ive ever seen and, contrary to what its name would lead you to believe, its not even Red. The dark prominent color is primarily due to it having been kept outside in natural sunlight.

All the ones in the Rapps photos, if I remember correctly from the posters on here that bought them, while red in the photos, all faded and lost their lip size as well.

I dont think, if youre truly asking for RED, that there are such a thing that holds red as its permanent color.

Madness, do you have pics of your Barred "RED" RD? In all my years of being around fish, Ive never heard of or seen that before. If its not an anomaly, Id pay high dollar for something of the sort if it has fry.
